Olympics hockey: GB fight back to draw with Netherlands at Paris 2024 Olympics

Lee Morton scored twice as Great Britain fought back to earn a thrilling 2-2 draw with the Netherlands and maintain their unbeaten record in the men’s Olympic hockey competition.

Goals from Floris Wortelboer and Thijs van Dam had put the top-seeded Dutch into a two-goal lead early on in the final quarter.

But Morton worked his way into a shooting position to fire home his first at a scorching Yves-du-Manoir Stadium.

Britain continued to pile on the pressure and defender Morton completed the comeback with a thumping finish from a penalty corner.

Britain, who also had to fight back to draw 2-2 with South Africa in their previous match, are third in Pool A and in a strong position to reach the quarter-finals.

They face world champions Germany and hosts France in their remaining pool matches with the top four teams qualifying for the quarter-finals.

David Ames’ side, who won their opening match 4-0 against Spain, are seeking to win their first Olympic medal since their gold-medal triumph in 1988.
