One Concord Beta Hero is Already Becoming the Go-to Meta and Fan-Favorite, and For Good Reason!

The PlayStation community was unimpressed with Concord’s mechanical innovation and gameplay after its initial trailer release. Despite the reception, the game held a closed beta this past weekend, allowing many users to try it out and explore its various characters.

It seems players have already discovered the meta with a particular character who is quite useful and challenging thanks to the different skills they have.

Players’ Thoughts on the Characters in Concord’s Closed Beta

This hasn’t been the most successful year for PlayStation in general, and the latest State of Play didn’t help much, showcasing several games that failed to impress fans.

One of these titles was Concord, a new multiplayer PvP game, which is a hero shooter with the unique feature of having weekly cinematics to show the story of its characters and their progression. The game shares many aspects with titles like Overwatch.

This past weekend, the game held its first closed beta, with players from both PlayStation and PC testing out the different heroes it offers.

Got a clean triple kill with Emari. She’s definitely a force to be reckoned with.

The open beta will be available to players next week from July 18-21, which has many in the gaming community excited to try it out.

Many players who had the chance to participate seem to have already determined which characters will be meta in every match. One of these is named Emari, a tank character, who is quite useful for defending positions.

This Particular Character Seems to Have Caught the Community’s Attention

Many Concord players who tried using Emari in combat agreed that he was very useful and difficult to defeat. The character can use a shield as well as a minigun to shoot multiple projectiles simultaneously, winning almost any head-to-head battle.

Even players on sites like Reddit or X have said that the overall design of the character is excellent and he is genuinely effective in combat.

It appears that players are quite satisfied with the balance of the different characters and their abilities. Considering Emari is a tank, other players might better understand other types of heroes to further balance teams once the open beta is available.

For now, reactions to the game are moderate, but there are no major complaints regarding gameplay and other basic mechanics.

Next week, Concord will officially launch its open beta, which will be the real test for the game’s popularity.

Despite having a mostly negative reception initially, this could change once the community tries out the game and its full features. Similar to Helldivers 2, the title will launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5 and PC, leveraging a significantly larger player base.
