One Weapon is Getting So Dangerously Famous We’re Scared a Nerf is Coming

There’s no doubt that Helldivers 2 is one of the biggest titles of the year. However, in recent months, the game has seen an unfortunate downward trend. Initially, many believed that was solely due to Sony’s PSN account linking requirements. However, it runs much deeper than that.

One of the most significant issues for Helldivers 2‘s player base has been the mostly unnecessary nerfing of various weapons. For many, this has wrecked the fun and ease of the game, and while this PvE title should bring a challenge to it, mass nerfs are not the way. Unfortunately, it looks like another weapon is going to face developer Arrowhead’s wrath as it’s proving to be too powerful.

Recoilless Rifle Might Be Nerfed to Oblivion in Next Helldivers 2 Patch

Partially true to its name, the almighty GR-8 is a rocket launcher that’s devoid of any recoil. As expected, this weapon comes with massive damage and is capable of absolutely dominating a wide variety of enemies and blowing up Automaton Gunships.

With the recent patches in Helldivers 2, many weapons have been nerfed and adjusted once again. This has allowed the Recoilless Rifle to creep into the meta. Players on the game’s official subreddit can’t get enough of this lethal weapon and bow down to its supremacy.

While it’s fantastic to see that the weapon has found a place in the mission to spread democracy, it’s now also a major concern due to Arrowhead’s constant habit of nerfing weapons that see even a small uptick in use.

The developers’ balance changes prove to be quite horrendous for gamers who spend hours upon hours mastering a particular weapon to see it fall into the abyss.

The prevalence of constant nerfs undoubtedly took the fun out of Helldivers 2, which, at its core, is a team-based PvE experience that’s packed with powerful, over-the-top artillery.

Let’s hope that the studio has finally learned its lesson and doesn’t nerf Recoilless Rifle into oblivion. Otherwise, the community backlash would be immense, and the review-bombing on Steam wouldn’t come to an end.

Arrowhead has Big Plans For Helldivers 2‘s Future

After the failure of the last couple of patches, Arrowhead has finally managed to regain its ground with the latest patch for Helldivers 2. Alongside various changes, many fan-favorite Stratagems and weapons were massively improved.

There’s no denying the fact that the Escalation of Freedom update was quite controversial, so obviously, the studio needed a new plan to save the game using the community’s feedback before Space Marine 2 gained momentum,

New leaks suggest that the studio is planning to introduce brand-new enemies, such as the Automation Assault Walkers. Gamers love the Automation missions as they’re chaotic and fun. Adding such a unit to the game will certainly take the gameplay to the next level.

With the studio’s shift in direction, Helldivers 2‘s reviews are finally positive again, but this is still the beginning, as the developers have massive plans for the title’s future.
