Passenger Plane ‘Free Falls’ Ahead of Crash in Brazil: Video

A video that caught the moments before a passenger plane crashed in Brazil is going viral, with concerned viewers dubbing it an “absolute tragedy.”

Video shared by BNO news captured the plane, later identified as Voepass Flight 2283, “free falling” before crashing on the ground in Vinhedo, Brazil, and becoming engulfed in flames.

One disturbed viewer called it “an absolute tragedy.”

“The radar tracking for this flight is scary…,” another added alongside a screenshot of the data.

“How did it just fall from the sky like that?” a third asked.

According to a statement from the airline, the plane had 62 people aboard, including the crew. It was en route to Sao Paulo, Brazil from Cascavel, Brazil, per information obtained using FlightAware, which provides real-time, historical, and predictive flight tracking data. The flight tracking platform reported Voepass Flight 2283 departed the airport at Cascavel at 11:50 a.m., it was scheduled to land in Sao Paulo roughly two hours later at 1:40 p.m.

The statement didn’t say what caused the accident and Sao Paulo officials told the Associated Press that that it has sent seven crews–including firefighters, military police and civil defense authorities–to the region of the accident

Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was at an event when the flight went down, where he asked the crowd to stand and observe a minute of silence as he said that it appeared that all passengers and crew aboard had died, per the outlet. He didn’t elaborate how he obtained that information nor has any official announcement been made in regards to the number of injuries or fatalities.
