Path of Exile: All Necropolis expansion announcements
Monsters get haunted by Spirits and now I have to deal with that? Well, that sounds like a plan. Here are the highlights for the new incoming Necropolis expansion for Path of Exile.
Spirits of the Eternal Empire are haunting the League of Wraeclast. This new Necropolis expansion announced by Grinding Gear Games – alongside a Path of Exile 2 preview of the Ranger class – will have you team up with Undertaker Arimor to collect these Spirits in hopes of crafting more powerful items while also getting rid of this menace. Sounds simple enough, right? You see, there are a lot of additions and mechanics that will be introduced during this March expansion, which will add new Transfigured Gems, lots of endgame content changes, as well as the aforementioned Necropolis Challenge League. Let’s check out the main changes and mechanics of the Necropolis expansion in Path of Exile.
One of the Undertaker’s heirlooms, the Latner of Arimor, will accompany you through your journey across Wraeclast. Every time you enter a new area in the League in search of Spirits, you will be able to see what Spirits are up to. You can even get to manipulate these Spirits in the way they haunt the Wraeclast monsters, allowing you to pick what modifiers apply to each of these monsters. This will be a great way to tackle the content of the Necropolis expansion, adding a layer of strategy that will mean either your survival or ultimate demise.
Not only that, but you will also encounter the Embers of the Allflame which, in conjunction with the Lantern, will help you out by summoning and replacing existing monsters with other monsters that yield better rewards for you to pick up. Always check the Density of the original monster pack, since it will remain the same after you use the Embers to replace them with higher-tier monsters. Finally, you will be able to use the Lantern of Arimor to modify endgame maps, so make sure to use it wisely.
Collecting these monsters haunted by the Spirits will allow you to build a collection that you can use in your favor in many ways. Some of these monster corpses that suffer from Unresolved Anguis will require extra help from the Undertaker by taking them to the Morgue. Visit this Morgue so you can see your collection and decide what to take to one of Arimor’s cemeteries and bury your monsters in the open graves. This will allow you to custom craft several items by exorcising their bodies, with each monster combination applying modifiers which will allow the player to collect new Unique Items that will help you out in this expansion.
While a decent amount of monsters will be afflicted by the evil Spirits, these have their counterpart in the form of Devoted Spirits. These will bring much bigger rewards in store for you, allowing monsters to grant you better item drops, finding NPCs that will offer you Unique Items, as well as spawning specific Shrines that will grant you specific advantages. The more haunted monsters you destroy, the more likely you will be able to see monsters influenced by Devoted Spirits, so be sure to do some major butchering.
Path of Exile’s newest endgame changes are quite exorbitant, to say the least. There are a lot of changes coming with the arrival of Necropolis, so here are some of the highlights presented by Grinding Gear Games:
- Atlas Trees and Uber Bosses: Atlas Trees are now expanded to include more passive skills to enhance your endgame experience. You will no longer need to invest points in Atlas Trees to fight Uber Bosses. You will now have to collect fragments in the new Tier 17 maps.
- Tier 17 Endgame maps: Complete these maps to gain fragments to access Uber Bosses. You will get even more rewards and face even more powerful bosses.
- Scarab changes: Scarabs now feature different variations that will help cover a good chunk of map variety presented by previous content. You can also use Remarkable Relics and Tainted Carapaces to focus your attention on farming a specific type of Ultimatum Scarab.
Many other modifications and updates will be coming with Necropolis in Path of Exile. These changes will help you get the best gear in the game and put you in the way of even harder enemies. After all, Affliction did spoil us a bit with the amount of loot collected, so we need to keep that roll going! Necropolis will arrive on March 29, 2024. Prepare your Lanterns and let’s hunt those Spirits!
