Perth weather: Severe thunderstorm causes power outages across WA

Thousands of homes across WA are without power as a severe thunderstorm smashes the State.

Western Power is reporting nearly 2000 customers are experiencing unplanned outages in the Dunsborough area and another 1500 in Cockburn.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued an updated weather warning just after 5pm as the strong cold front moves towards the city.

People in Bunbury, Busselton, Mandurah, Manjimup, Margaret River and Perth are being told to expect heavy rainfall and damaging winds.

“You need to act now and stay safe with severe weather forecast including heavy rainfall and damaging winds expected over the next several hours.”

Friday: 17C, chance of showers

Saturday: 19C, sunny

Sunday: 19C, sunny

Monday: 20C, chance of showers

Tuesday: 21C, showers

Wednesday: 20C. showers
