PlayStation Fans Look Away, 1 Exclusive Sequel is Years Off in Disappointing Update

As Sony executives communicated earlier this year, the exclusive games for the PlayStation 5 with an AAA budget will have to wait at least one year since the Japanese company confirmed that no huge IPs will be releasing this year. 

Unfortunately, a popular insider has doubled down on backing up this Sony message, having confirmed that another big franchise is yet to be released. The Guerrilla Games saga, particularly Horizon 3, will take a long time to be revealed. This was mentioned by insider Silknight, who was asked about Sony-exclusive titles.

The industry is going into its worst year in decades; some consoles are not selling, and AAA games are more expensive than ever, making development times more extensive. This makes players and investors very impatient, and with a very small success window, if the game doesn’t sell well, years of work will be in vain, and companies end up making the worst decisions. However, it is not all grim and negative; there are titles that make all this worth the wait: the platform exclusives.

Titles like God of War or Marvel’s Spider-Man sell in the millions, earning Sony and PlayStation a lot of money and especially reestablishing their reputation. This is why all the major gaming companies invest in exclusive games that could mean millions of copies sold; for example, one of the latest exclusive PlayStation and PC titles, Helldivers 2, has sold more than 8 million copies and has the majority of inversion from PlayStation Studios. But this will not repeat, at least not until 2025.

X insider Silknigth was answering questions about the industry, and he talked about the upcoming Sony projects. He was asked about what would come next, and he said the following: “Horizon 3 will take a bit longer to be revealed.”

This means that the next entry in the Aloy saga is a long wait before even being announced; the second game of this saga was released in 2022 and is absolutely overshadowed by the popular Elden Ring. 

One of the greatest achievements of the Horizon franchise is the technical level, which drives the PlayStation to unprecedented levels of immersion and amazing graphics that few Sony games have.

Although the community highly praised both Horizon games, their popularity remained relatively low, primarily due to the release of other titles that overshadowed them. Fans will have to wait for a potential Horizon 3. Guerrilla Games has not mentioned what is working.

According to rumors, Sucker Punch could be announcing Ghost of Tsushima 2 sometime this year. There are several indications that the studio is very active, and some job offers make the confirmation almost certain.

Other PlayStation fans are very excited about the next Naughty Dog game or the release window for Marvel’s Wolverine, the next title developed by Insomniac Games, one of the most popular Sony studios.
