Pocketpair isn’t opposed to acquisition offers

Developer Pocketpair isn’t opposed to selling itself or partnering up with the highest bidder if the opportunity arises. Regardless, though, it says it still plans on remaining a “small studio.”

Speaking with Bloomberg (via GamingBolt), CEO Takuro Mizobe is content with remaining independent, but would be willing to discuss acquisition avenues for the right bidder or partner. The most obvious contender would obviously Microsoft, considering the studio’s already got a working history and fostered the biggest third-party Game Pass release with Palworld, but even so, there are no such talks at this time. Meanwhile, it also has no intentions of becoming a publicly traded company, preferring the privately owned model.

The studio is currently short-staffed as it handles the immense success Palworld brought and the potential of bringing it elsewhere onto other — unconfirmed — platforms. As it plans on continuing to support its business management sim crossed with creature capture and survival game, it is actively hiring.

The AAA life for Pocketpair simply isn’t for it either, with Mizobe stating that that isn’t its bread and butter and would rather work on “multiple small games.”
