Pokemon Go Needs to Say Goodbye to Its Original Premise, as Modern Life is Too Busy to Abide by 1 of Its Rules
Niantic’s AR title Pokemon Go released to great reviews from fans and critics back in 2016 and is still going strong. Although the popularity has gone down a bit than it was at launch, a quiet large number of players are still playing it.
The game lets players to join and play with other fans around the world as trainers. While the fans still enjoy Pokemon Go, they want one thing to be removed from the game as it does not make sense being there anymore.
Pokemon Go Trades System Needs a Change
In Pokemon Go, players or trailers as called in the game can trade Pokemon using Stardust if they are on level 10 or above. However, the trading is only possible if two trainers are friends and also are in the proximity of 100 m from each other in real life.
This is great for players who play with their real life friends or live nearby them but becomes are problem for those friends who live far away from each other. One such player took to the game’s subreddit and said that they play majority of the time alone as their active friends are “from far off cities.”
We Should Be Able to Trade with Friends Regardless of Distance

They added that they are not great at making friends or good at meeting strangers. The player requested Niantic to bring a Pokemon Go update, allowing players to trade with friends regardless of the distance. They mentioned that Niantic has already introduced remote raid passes.
What’s the Idea for Updated Trade System?
The player suggested that if the developer Niantic decides to bring this feature, it can make this limited to Best Friends in Pokemon Go so that players do not trade Legendary Pokemon with random players or someone they’ve only added recently.
They said that it is “a pretty high bar to clear.” They further added that if the Niantic wants to limit the trades as per distance trades it can make the feature with a “lucky friend OR an entire different friendship state that has a low chance.” All they want is that can have a chance to trade with local friends.

As per the player, the feature should be “a little like GTS,” allowing players to offer a Pokemon and request one. A random mechanic that would choose random from both players would also be “fun.” They suggested that players can offer a rare Pokemon with bad stats that they don’t need.
While players have agreed with the OP’s suggestion, they said that it is not possible as the developer has said it is more exciting for trainers to meet in person. Many said that they too would like this but there is little to no chance of this happening anytime soon.
