Police identify one of the drivers killed in crash on MoPac Sunday

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department has identified one of the two people who died in a crash on MoPac early Sunday morning.

Austin-Travis County EMS said Sunday medics responded to the crash, which was a reported pin-in collision involving two vehicles. The crash happened at approximately 5:40 a.m. near the 12000 block of N. MoPac Expy. heading south.

APD said the crash involved an SUV and a pickup truck. Both the drivers were pronounced deceased on scene.

Nickolaus Lauderdale, 43, was identified as one of the drivers involved in the crash. The other driver has not been identified.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 43rd fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 46 fatalities for the year.
