Prepare for these long-term closures along I-43 in summer and fall 2024

Drivers will continue to see construction and road closures this summer and fall on Interstate 43 as part of the north-south reconstruction project between Silver Spring Drive in Glendale and Highway 60 in Grafton.

Construction for the project started in 2021 to expand I-43 from four to six lanes and reconstruct five existing interchanges. The project also includes the expansion of Port Washington Road, between Bender and Daphne roads, from two lanes to four lanes.

Highland Road reopens after paving finishes up in mid-July

Drivers can now use Highland Road, between Port Washington Road and Lake Shore Drive, after it reopened to traffic after a one-week closure for paving in mid-July.

The I-43 northbound and southbound ramps reopened to traffic after paving in mid-July 2024.

Long-term closure of Mequon Road will remain in place through mid-summer

A long-term closure of Mequon Road, between Port Washington Road and Lake Shore Drive, will remained in place through mid-summer.

Drivers can expect that I-43 northbound ramps at Mequon Road will remain closed through mid-summer as well.

The I-43 southbound ramps at Mequon Road are scheduled to close long-term in fall 2024.

I-43 northbound ramp at Brown Deer Road is scheduled to close this summer

Drivers can expect the I-43 northbound entrance ramp at Brown Deer Road to close long-term in summer through fall.

The I-43 northbound exit ramp at Brown Deer Road will remain closed through fall. The I-43 southbound ramps at Brown Deer Road reopened to traffic in mid-June.

Drivers will not be able to use the I-43 southbound ramps at Good Hope Road, which are scheduled to remain closed through late fall.

Additionally, Jean Nicolet Road, between Daphne Road and Green Tree Road, is scheduled to remain closed through late summer.
