‘Pride flag’ at Northern California restaurant leads to assault and hate crime investigation

(FOX40.COM) — An incident where two restaurant employees were assaulted over a ‘pride flag’ is being investigated as a hate crime, according to the Roseville Police Department.

Around 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, RPD responded to a call about an assault at a restaurant located on the 10000 block of Fairway Drive. Police said the altercation began when a suspect entered the business to pick up a delivery order, noticed a pride flag displayed inside, and reacted by grabbing and throwing it to the ground. When the manager and employees confronted the suspect, he used a homophobic slur and left the scene, according to RPD.
