Prison Architect 2 has been delayed by another 4 months

Prison Architect 2’s release date has been delayed for a second time, publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Double Eleven have announced.

Originally scheduled to be released for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam on March 26, before slipping to May 7, the 3D successor to 2015’s prison management simulator will now arrive on September 3.

The companies said the additional four months will be used to reduce crashes, optimise performance and polish existing features.

“While we currently have builds certified on all platforms and are ready to release, some issues regarding memory usage and minimum spec configurations experiencing more failures have emerged,” reads a message attributed to the Prison Architect 2 team.

“Considering the legacy of Prison Architect, and you – our passionate community, we want to ship the best possible sequel to such a beloved game, without cutting corners to do so.”

Double Eleven will discuss how it’s planning to further develop some of the game’s existing features during a Prison Architect 2 stream on April 25.

On Thursday, Paradox announced that customers who purchased Cities Skylines 2’s first DLC will be refunded, with the content set to be added to the base game for free after being “rushed out” in an unsatisfactory state.

Future paid DLC, and the game’s console version, have also been delayed again.
