PUBG Mobile to partner up with Qiddiya Gaming ahead of Global Championship finals

• The collab with the world’s first “IRL Gaming & Esports district” will include in-game items

By now if you’re not aware that the PUBG Mobile Global Championships are taking place this weekend in London, then we’ve clearly not been doing a good job reporting on it. But if you are and thought Krafton had no more surprises up its sleeve, you’d be wrong. Because it’s just been announced PUBG Mobile will be partnering with Qiddiya Gaming!

What is Qiddiya Gaming? You might ask. Well, as part of Saudi Arabia’s major push into gaming, they’ve also ambitiously announced that they’re going to create the world’s first “IRL Gaming & Esports District” within Qiddiya, which itself is a city-sized entertainment project currently being built.

As for what exactly will be included in-game, we’ve yet to find out. However, we do know it’s primarily going to be in World of Wonder mode, so I’d hazard a guess it would involve the planned, but as yet unfinished, buildings and layout of Qiddiya itself.

I’m not precisely sure how much the idea of Qiddiya resonates with the average player. After all I don’t think most of us will be going on holiday specifically to play games, and one of the strengths of esports is how it brings together people from across the globe regardless of distance.

At the same time, it does indicate just how valuable PUBG Mobile and its esports scene are to people trying to capitalise on gaming as a business. With more news to come, who knows what form this, and Qiddiya’s presence at the PUBG Mobile Global Championships this year will take?
