Queensland Police investigate high-profile woman after claims she drugged one-year-old daughter

A high-profile Queensland woman who documented her young daughter’s declining health on social media is being investigated by police following concerns about her child’s wellbeing.

The woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, had shared updates about her daughter’s alleged health battle with a rare disease online, including her stints in hospital and multiple operations.

Several fundraisers had been launched to help the family as they went through the experience of having a child undergo medical care, with more than $60,000 donated.

However, the child’s health condition has now been called into question as it was alleged the woman was drugging her child.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman told NewsWire police were aware of reports of child harm against a one-year-old girl.

“The Queensland Police Service has taken action to protect the child and commenced an investigation,” the spokeswoman said.

“As this is an active investigation it would be inappropriate to provide further comment.”

NewsWire does not suggest the allegations are true, only that the child’s welfare is being investigated.

It’s understood the investigation will take several weeks.

The mother’s social media accounts have since been deactivated.

It comes after Courier Mail reported staff at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, where the child was being treated, raised their concerns with police about her health on Monday.

The claims have left many of the woman’s followers on social media outraged.

One said she was “mortified”.

Another said the allegations had “absolutely broken my heart”.
