Ragnarok’s Latest Mod Gets Right The Exact Issue Sony Tried To Fix With Its PC Release
After months of anticipation, Sony finally ported God of War: Ragnarok to PC on September 19th, allowing gamers who’ve never experienced the legendary action-packed Norse epic to experience the game with graphical boosts and other quality-of-life features.

For the most part, Ragnarok has been regarded as a legendary entry in the God of War franchise. However, since its initial debut, gamers have had one annoying issue with the game: the never-ending blabber from Kratos’ companions. Even though Sony tried fixing the issue with the PC release, it didn’t work out in the way gamers had hoped.
Now, the modding community has taken matters into their own hands and has finally brought the much-needed fix.
God of War Ragnaork PC Mod Fixes Puzzle-Ruining Dialogues

There’s no doubt that God of War: Ragnarok is a masterpiece. Despite all that, one glaring issue with the title is its puzzles, specifically how all companions keep spoiling how to solve them. Although these puzzles aren’t exactly challenging, allies like Freya and Atreus end up giving hints or even telling you the clues before you have time to act on them.
One modder named Mophead has finally found a workaround for this issue. The modder has released a mod dubbed “Please Shut Up (Companion Mute Mod)” that can now be downloaded via NexusMods. Just like the name suggests, it removes more than 1,500 voice lines linked to combat or puzzle hints! Not only that, it also removes any gameplay tips that might bother you.
According to Mophead, all the puzzles in God of War: Ragnarok were meant to make the title accessible to gamers who have never experienced action games before. In some instances, they do end up being helpful, but most of the time, they’re nothing but a hurdle in your adventure.
What’s interesting is that when the game’s PC port debuted on the Epic Games Store and Steam last month, Sony did bring a patch that gave us the option to reduce the in-game hints. However, it didn’t outright eliminate them from the game like Mophead’s project.
God of War: Ragnarok‘s Best Mod Got Taken Down

A few months ago, Sony ended up facing a massive community outrage when it implemented an account-linking requirement for Arrowhead’s Helldivers 2. Although the company eventually backtracked on this decision, it made all gamers question if they ever wanted to continue playing.
Helldivers 2 was stormed with negative reviews and backlash. Despite that, all PlayStation titles released on Steam, such as Ghost of Tsushima and Ragnarok, still had the PSN- requirement.
After Sony revealed that the Ragnarok port would force users to link their PSN accounts, it received the review-bomb treatment when it debuted on September 19th. However, after the game was released, a new mod emerged on the scene, which allowed players to completely bypass the requirement.
Unfortunately, the creator of the mod out of nowhere pulled it from NexusMods without any kind of explanation. Eventually, the creator cleared the air about their decision and stated that due to the attention from various media outlets, they had to take down the mod to avoid any potential legal issues.
With the mod snapped out of existence, players will have to follow the established guidelines in the Steam release. However, it’s still possible for the mod to make its way through other means, like someone sharing its files online. Even though it wasn’t Sony’s doing, it doesn’t set a good precedent for the future of PlayStation titles released on PC.
With that said, would you like to see any other particular mod for God of War: Ragnarok? If so, let us know in the comments below.
