Rangers investigate woman bitten by dingo on Kāgari
A woman walking to the toilet alone was bitten on the thigh by a dingo while visiting the popular Kāgari, formerly Fraser Island, off the Queensland coast.
The international tourist was bitten while visiting Beach Camping Zone 6 on the east coast of the island at 8am on Sunday.

A Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) spokesman said rangers were advised the woman had been bitten in the thigh, leaving two puncture wounds.
āRangers were told that a group of international tourists arrived on the beach and that nearby campers warned them of a dingo in the area,ā he said.

āThe dingo approached the woman while she was going to the toilet alone. She wasnāt carrying a stick and started to run as it approached her.
āThe dingo gave chase and bit her on the left rear thigh resulting in two puncture wounds.
āCampers nearby overheard and chased the dingo away.ā
Rangers are investigating the incident and will continue patrols in the area while monitoring the animal.
Visitors and residents on Kāgari are reminded to remain vigilant at all times of dingoes on the island.
People are urged to keep children at armās length, never walk alone and carry a stick at all times.
