Richmond superstar Dustin Martin has retired from AFL football effective immediately.

Martin, 33, is one of the great players of the modern era, winning three premierships and three Norm Smith Medals with the Tigers, along with the 2017 Brownlow Medal.

He played 302 games and kicked 338 goals but was restricted to just 13 appearances this year through injuries as speculation swirled around his future.
