Shadow of the Erdtree as Astro Bot Announces Free DLC Releasing This Year

Astro Bot has already made people go frenzy over it. This PlayStation 5 exclusive 3D platformer has been released on September 6, 2024. In just a few days of its release, the game has notched a superb score of 94 on Metacritic. The predecessor of this game, Astro’s Playroom, was a free teach demo for the dual sense controller and was included in every PS5.

But who would have thought that the successor would go on to become one of the finest gaming titles of 2024 and a probable contender for the Game of the Year award! Now, to take the excitement to a whole new level, Team Asobi has announced an expansion for the game, which might beat Shadow or Erdtree as well.

Astro Bot Is Getting a Free DLC

Astro Bot is right now the highest-rated game this year. Some even went too far to mark this game as the best ever 3D platformer title, however, there are some controversies as well regarding it. The game is so good, that it hardly faced any criticism. But there was one complaint from the fan – the gaming experience was too short.

The game is filled with iconic PlayStation characters and with an in-game familiar PlayStation environment. That’s why even 80 levels felt pretty short. Even the Platinum trophy of the game can be achieved before the 20-hour mark. That is why, Team Asobi has announced a DLC for the game this fall, that too for absolutely free.

Now, this DLC release might dethrone Elden Ring‘s Shadow of Erdtree DLC as the best expansion released this year. There is no hint of doubt that the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion gave Elden Ring a new meaning, adding vertical exploration and many more features.

The expansion sold more than 5 million copies since its release on June 20 this year and overshadowed other FromSoftware titles alone. But things are going to be changed as Team Asobi’s 3D platformer will have its own expansion soon.

What Is New in the Astro Bot DLC?

The latest PlayStation’s State of Play event kicked off with a new Astro Bot trailer, featuring all the new content from the DLC. First up, fans will be getting 5 brand-new online speedrun levels. It seems these levels are water/ice and jungle-themed.

Along with it, there will be 10 new Special Bots as well, whom players have to rescue. Last but not the, the game will receive four different Helldivers makeup and Eve from Stellar Blade as new VIP bots to be rescued.

Those who are waiting for the DLC to drop soon should ensure that they have rescued all the VIP bots in the game. As of now, the base game features over 300 bots, among them 169 are VIPs. Going through Astro’s Playroom adds four more.

This free DLC is going to take the hype to a whole new level if it hasn’t gotten there yet. We should expect future DLC updates as well, which will be paid, because you and I both can’t resist saving a Spider-Man bot, which is not in the game right now, but who knows!
