Si Paradiso review: Why I’m adding this Highgate haunt to the list of places I love in my part of Perth

I remember celebrating Sydney winning the Olympics in 1993, waving a schooner of Tooheys Old and the Telegraph Mirror aloft — WE WIN screaming from the front page — and trying to work out what age I’d be when the Games finally rolled into town so far into the future in the year 2000.

So the fact we’ve just witnessed the 2024 Olympics, and I’m weeks out from turning 50, is difficult to get my head around. Likewise, how does one celebrate such a milestone when the idea of a party is about as attractive as that flog commentator who made a sexist gag about our female swim team because they dared take some time to soak up their 4 x 100m relay victory.
