Silent Hill 2 Remake: How To Kill Mannequins

Silent Hill 2 Remake brings back all kinds of creepy enemies from the original, and one of the weirdest ones is the Mannequin. It’s a half-human, half-monster that looks like two pairs of legs sewn together. These things can be sneaky as they blend into the background and stay totally still until they get the jump on you. 

What makes them even creepier is that when they’re standing still, not even your radio picks up on their presence. They don’t have any ranged attacks, but they’re pretty good at dodging your moves. 

How to Kill Mannequins in Silent Hill 2 Remake

Taking on the Mannequins can be tricky in Silent Hill 2 Remake. While their main attack is just kicking, they’re good at dodging, so it’s hard to land a solid hit on them. They might not be as aggressive as the Lying Figures, but their dodging skills make them a tough opponent in close combat. 

You’ve got to strike carefully and throw only a few attacks at a time. If you miss or they dodge, they’re going to counterattack, so you’ve got to be ready to dodge right after.

If you’re dealing with more than one at a time, using your pistol can help. The flashlight tactic can also be pretty useful. Shining your flashlight on a semi-exposed or distant Mannequin forces it to move and engage in battle. 

This can help you lure them out or reposition them for a better attack. Shooting them in the lower legs can be really effective when needed to take them down. Even on the hardest difficulty, just two handgun shots to the legs can knock them down. 

Once they’re on the ground, you can follow up with a melee attack to finish them off quickly. Rinse and repeat this strategy, and you can deal with the Mannequins easily enough.

The shotgun is the best weapon to use against Mannequins if you’ve got it. It’s powerful and can take them down fast, but you only get it a bit later in the game. If you don’t have the shotgun yet, the steel pipe and wooden plank are a solid backup too. 

Mannequin Attack Patterns And Locations 

Mannequins have a few different moves you’ll need to watch out for. The first is the Leg Jab, where they try to kick you with their upper leg. They’ll usually give you a little visual indicator before they do this move. 

Another attack is the Evasive Straight, where they dodge your melee attacks and counter with a Leg Jab. There’s also the Body Check, where they’ll leap at you if you don’t dodge in time. 

The worst is probably the Lunge, where they’ll jump at you and pin you down, forcing you to complete a quick-time event with button mashing to escape.

You’ll first start running into Mannequins in the Wood Side Apartments, and you’ll occasionally encounter them inside different buildings as you move through the game. 

But there’s also a new type of Mannequin in the remake – the Spider-Mannequin. These look similar to the regular ones, but they don’t have feet. They’re faster and can crawl along walls. Their main attack is lunging at you from the walls, making them a little more unpredictable and dangerous than the regular ones. They start appearing in Toluca prison.

Knowing their moves and weaknesses can make all the difference in Silent Hill 2 Remake, but the aforementioned tips should help you take them all down with ease.
