Six hospitalized after crash on east Columbus highway ramp

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Six people were hospitalized, including one in life-threatening condition, after a crash Friday evening on an east Columbus highway ramp.

Columbus police said a red Chrysler with five people inside, two adults in the front and three juvenile passengers, was driving around 10:30 p.m. on the entrance ramp to Interstate 70 east from Alum Creek Drive. A blue Honda with just an adult driver was on the exit ramp at the same time.

The Honda left the roadway, crossed into the grassy area between the two ramps and hit the Chrysler head-on. The driver of the Honda was hospitalized in life-threatening condition while all five occupants of the Chrysler were taken to local hospitals. Police did not specify the severity of their injuries.

Columbus police’s accident investigation unit is conducting the investigation as they seek to determine why the driver of the Honda left the exit ramp.
