Some Elden Ring Players are Forgetting Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Biggest Lesson as They Struggle To Beat Shadow of the Erdtree’s Final Boss

Hidetaka Miyazaki is a nefarious director known for creating some of the hardest-to-beat video game titles ever introduced to mankind. However, there is a secret meaning behind this difficulty that has been his motto since day one and is pretty well known among Elden Ring players.

Unfortunately, the final boss in the recent Shadow of the Erdtree DLC released last month is daunting enough to make some players forget about what awaits them once they finally finish their journey in the Realm of Shadow.

Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Mindset and How It Applies to Elden Ring

Not only Elden Ring but essentially all the Souls games released to date by FromSoftware follow only two rules, the first being that you do not quit fighting a boss, and the second being that you do not break the first rule.

According to the director, the intense difficulty has been put in place for a reason, and it is there to deliver an ultimate sense of achievement and joy after the player completes a level or a boss in the game, something that a few players are seemingly forgetting after fighting the final boss of the recent DLC.

There is no need to state here how the above user is not to blame, as Hidetaka Miyazaki has gone all out, creating one of the toughest bosses ever seen in the history of the studio.

Not only is the return of Radahn shocking to many, but it has also become a nightmare for a lot of players who remain defeated even after hundreds of attempts.

Why Is There No Difficulty Toggle in Elden Ring

Despite being called out for the lack of a difficulty toggle before, the recent Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has made fans realize how FromSoftware might have finally gone too far with the amount of difficulty it puts against players.

However, coming to the studio’s defense, Miyazaki earlier stated in an interview that he believes that introducing different difficulty modes, and essentially an easy mode to the title would break the game itself.

The hardened and tough-to-beat level design has also become a signature aspect of all the games released by the studio at this point, and it would practically make no sense to go back from it now. Especially with hundreds of thousands of players around the world choosing to play the Souls genre because of this feature.

How are you finding the difficulty of the recent DLC so far? Have you struggled with the final boss in Shadow of the Erdtree? Make sure to let us know about it in the comments below!
