South32 collects nearly $150m from insurers to fix Groote Eylandt wharf damage

A South32-controlled venture has banked about $150 million from external insurers to rebuild a storm-ravaged wharf that ships all of the miner’s Australian manganese.

The global manganese market was hit by a supply shock in March when rough seas caused by tropical cyclone Megan pulled a bulk carrier colliding into the Groote Eylandt wharf.
