Sparking Zero Is Falling Short in 1 Big Way That Fans Can’t Get Passed

After Iron Man came out in 2008, Marvel fans were pretty much convinced that Robert Downey Jr. was the perfect fit for the character. Dragon Ball characters share something similar, which fans may realize with the arrival of Sparking Zero. They will notice if there is a change in voice behind a character. Much like the short instance that happened with King Kai’s voice during the Frieza Saga.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is said to bring in 164 characters with its roster, and the better half of them seemed to have retained their voices from the original English dub of the anime. The game is rumored to arrive by the end of this year, but nothing has been officially announced concerning it.

That’s Indeed Gohan, but There’s Something Odd About Him

The next installment in the Budokai Tenkaichi series gets almost everything right, but perfection’s hard to come by.

The ‘Master and Apprentice‘ trailer opens with a fight between Piccolo Jr. and Son Gohan, where the ‘Apprentice‘ gives off some odd feeling. His voice just doesn’t feel right.

In the original English dub of the anime, Stephanie Nadolny is known for voicing the child version of Son Goku and later Son Gohan. However, Colleen Clinkenbeard has voiced the latter in Sparking Zero, who has done the same in Dragon Ball Z Kai. Fortunately, the teen and adult versions of the character have retained the original voice of American voice actor and DJ Kyle Hebert.

Kai was an altered version of the original show that aired between 1989 and 1996. However, the English-language release was subject to heavy editing that greatly altered the initial work. It also depicted Mr. Popo blue instead of black, which had a similar effect on the eyes of fans as Tien Shinhan’s Solar Flare technique.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Gets Almost Everything Right

It seems like only Son Gohan is getting a voice from Kai, but rest assured, other versions give off the same vibes as the original anime as far as voices are concerned. Other than that, Sean Schemmel, Christopher Sabat, and Mike Farland will return as the character voices behind Goku, Vegeta, and Master Roshi, respectively.

Besides voices, Sparking Zero gets several things right that many Dragon Ball video games don’t. Yamcha’s Wolf Fang Fist technique, for one, is as accurate as it can get in the upcoming game. Moreover, players might be getting a tag team mode too, adding more thrill to the gameplay.

As of now, Sparking Zero has received four trailers, including one gameplay showcase and the rest themed-based. Fans should prepare, as it is very likely that they’ll be getting the game within one year. Hopefully, almost all the characters will be revealed before it arrives.

What do you think of Son Gohan’s voice in the game? We would like to know your thoughts in the comments section below.
