Star Wars Outlaws PC Specs Revealed and It’s Going to Melt Some Graphics Cards

Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft’s latest open-world adventure, has its PC specs out, and they are pretty intense. Set for release on August 30th, this game promises an immersive experience in a fan-favorite franchise.

However, getting the most out of this game might come at a hefty CPU and GPU cost, and the fans have reacted accordingly on social media platforms. A lot of them are rather concerned if the game will be released in a polished state or not; it’s Ubisoft after all.

PC System Requirements Revealed for Star Wars Outlaws

Ubisoft has outlined several target tiers that cater to different types of gamers in an infographic image. The announcement of the Star Wars Outlaws PC specs has led to a lot of reactions among fans. On the Nvidia subreddit, users expressed their concerns jokingly, with some fearing that their current GPUs would face severe challenges and explode.

For each tier, there is a corresponding resolution and quality setting. For example, the minimum tier is aimed at 1080p resolution with a low graphics pre-set and 30fps. On the other end of the spectrum, the ultra-tier targets 4K resolution with ultra settings and 60 fps, and they are quite demanding compared to other AAA games.

To achieve these high-end settings, the game demands powerful hardware. For 1440p resolution at high graphics pre-set and 60fps, players will need a GPU like the RTX 3080, RTX 4070, or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT.

Moving up to 4K resolution and 60fps, the requirements become even steeper. Players will need a CPU like the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D or Intel Core i7-12700K, paired with a GPU such as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX. Yeah, these are definitely hefty.

Fan Reactions and Gameplay Concerns

These demanding requirements suggest that even modern consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X might struggle to run the game at its highest settings. A 60fps mode, which has yet to be confirmed, would be an important addition, and fans won’t respond kindly if the game lacks this mode.

Given that Ubisoft’s Massive Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora included a 60fps mode, it is possible to expect a similar option for Star Wars Outlaws.

Adding to the criticisms, the latest gameplay demo from IGN has stirred up a mixed bag of emotions among fans, along with recent hands-on demo impressions from multiple YouTubers and critics that were flown out by Ubisoft to play a few hours of the game.

Most of them have the same concerns; combat and gameplay lack depth, and the facial animations are pretty last-gen, among other issues.

The reception for the IGN demo has been less than favorable, with the video receiving a significant number of dislikes on YouTube. Fans have pointed out several similar issues. The special effects also seemed incomplete, drawing unflattering comparisons to games from the Xbox 360 and PS3 eras.

Despite these criticisms, there is still a decent amount of excitement and cautious optimism surrounding the game. Fans are hopeful that these early impressions do not reflect the final product, but then again, it’s hard to trust Ubisoft after the last decade of mess-ups.
