Starfield: How to Recruit Lin

Traveling in the vast universe of Starfield can often become tedious and routine. Though exploration is the crux of the game, adventuring alone can quickly become boring. Fortunately, the game allows players to recruit companions, ensuring that no one is alone on their journey.

Lin is one of the first characters players will encounter, and many may wonder how to recruit her in Starfield. Early in the journey, recruiting her can be quite beneficial, as she possesses useful traits.

How to Recruit Lin in Starfield?

Lin is the Supervisor of the Argos Extractors mining operations on the moon Vectera in Bethesda‘s Starfield. She is a veteran in the field, and you’ll first encounter her in the opening moments of the game. According to the in-game lore, you used to work at Argos Extractors before joining Constellation, so Lin isn’t just a random NPC.

Before you recuit her you need to commence the “Back to Vectera” in the Constellation line. That said, this mission comes pretty early in the game so it shouldn’t be a hassle to complete it. However, we’d still recommend upgrading your weapons.

In the same questline, pirates will come to Vectera and kidnap Barrett and Heller. You’ll have to rescue them, and this is where you’ll get the opportunity to recruit Lin. Head to Vectera and interact with Lin in the mining base. You’ll need to complete a few menial tasks, then chat with Lin again.

She will mention a career change, and you’ll be able to recruit her. If the recruitment option doesn’t appear right away, talk to her again, and it should show up. As mentioned before, Lin is one of the first Starfield companions you can recruit, and a Starfield help that can come handy in your gameplay.

Lin’s Skills in Starfield

Lin isn’t just for companionship; she also brings certain attributes to the table. She has level 1 ‘Demolition‘ and level 3 ‘Outpost Management.’

If you’re wondering what these skills do: Demolition increases the explosion radius of grenades by 25%, and you’ll also be able to see the projectile trajectory of grenades.

On the other hand, Outpost Management allows you to add additional members to an outpost. Clearly, Lin’s skills don’t excel in combat, so it’s best to assign her to an outpost, as this is where she shines.
