Starfield Is Finally Getting the 1 Feature Helldivers 2 Still Hasn’t Bothered to Release
Starfield is getting a massive free update in a few weeks, which will include a bunch of new stuff like ship interior customization, gameplay and difficult adjustments, and a ton of performance settings for Xbox Series X users.
However, one of the most exciting updates (and historic, in a way) hitting the game isn’t coming in May but is currently being worked on for a future release. Buckle your seatbelts and brace yourselves, because the game is finally going to have vehicles.
Starfield Is Finally Getting Vehicles
Typically, sprawling open-world games have some form of mount that lets you traverse the map faster. Even Bethesda’s own The Elder Scrolls franchise has rideable mounts in the fourth and fifth titles.
Yet, somehow, Starfield doesn’t have any space buggies to make getting across the map easier. You do have a boost pack, and you’ve got your Starship to traverse between planets, but that’s about it.
Before the game’s release, Bethesda director Todd Howard mentioned that ground vehicles wouldn’t be added. He explained that this would’ve changed the game, and the team wanted to focus on enhancing on-foot exploration.
Now, around seven months after the game’s release, it seems Howard and his team have changed their minds. In a recent developer update video, they revealed that they’re working on ground vehicles that’ll be implemented in a future update.
This marks the first time Bethesda has included a non-horse land mount in its games. And, it’s got Helldivers 2 beat by a mile, in this case. Leaks did show that Arrowhead’s game would be getting vehicles, but it’s not confirmed when.
Additionally, the developers are actively working on adding more quests to the game and making the Shattered Space DLC. With respect to official mod support through Creations, beta toolkits have been sent out to verified creators, and there’ll be more information on that soon.
The Starfield Update for May Is Stacked
Admittedly, it is a bit disappointing to hear nothing more than “land vehicles are coming sometime in the future.” At the very least, we’ve got an official confirmation. Besides, some of the updates coming in May seem very promising.
We’ve got expansive city maps (which were teased by Howard previously), where you can “see all the detail on the terrain, trees, rocks, structures in the loading zone,” making it a lot easier to navigate these spaces. The team has also added markers in cities.
There are a bunch of new gameplay options, like adjusting the capacity of vendor credits and carrying weight. Flexible difficulty options allow you to do things like make space combat more difficult while easing up on gun combat.
Regarding ship customization, a new decor mode is on its way, where you can customize the layout of the ships and furnish them however you want.
