Stellar Blade Includes 1 Easter Egg Nod to Nier Automata that Some Think is More Than It Is

The launch of the PS5-exclusive title Stellar Blade earlier this year has put Shift Up on the map. The hard-hitting action-adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic setting follows the story of Eve as she tries to reclaim the planet from deadly creatures.

Alongside bringing its worlds and mythos, the game pays homage to plenty of franchises through its tons of easter eggs and references. One of these directly references the popular game NieR Automata, and players think it’s something more mysterious.

NieR Automata Reference in Stellar Blade is Fascinating

Following its debut in 2017, NieR Automata managed to become a fan favorite hit, which saw multiple versions of the game released and further collaboration with other IPs and franchises across the gaming landscape.

The game has had a massive influence over the entire action-adventure title, and it seems like Stellar Blade acknowledges that. While playing the PS5 title, many have come across the “Flower that Never Withers.”

Has anyone found out anything more about this flower that never withers?

This in-game flower stands as a direct reference to the Lunar Tear from NieR Automata game. Lunar Tear connects key characters and plotlines from the previous games, reminding them of past sacrifices and enduring legacy.

The rare flower represents the beauty that stands still in a broken world, which blends quite well with the overall setting of Stellar Blade.

While it’s an apparent reference, many in the community speculate that it ties in with other symbolic items from NieR: Automato. However, if we look at the overall setting of Stellar Blade and it’s terrifying lore, it’s clear that the flower pays homage to Lunar Tear, as it honors what’s been lost and reminds us to keep moving forward.

It’s great to see that Shift Up is acknowledging the influence of genre-defining games and bringing aspects of exploration and curiosity through such Easter eggs in Stellar Blade. Let’s hope they continue this trend with the upcoming updates for the game and bring in more from the NieR universe!

Stellar Blade is Full of Exciting Easter Eggs That You Might Have Missed

It’s not only NieR Automata! The Shift Up title includes tons of exciting easter eggs and references that you might have missed out on!

While exploring the mysteries of Atless Levoire in The Wasteland, players will head into a long corridor where they will have to step on multiple platforms in the correct sequence to proceed.

These platforms are marked by symbols: a blue cross, an orange circle, a pink square, and a green triangle, which are the four main buttons of a PlayStation Controller.

As you pass through Matrix 11, you’ll climb onto a train that’s hanging off a ruined bridge. While climbing through the carriage, the train begins to fall, forcing you to make a climb and escape through a series of fast-paced events before it drops into the water.

This whole sequence clearly references Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, where Nathan Drake wakes up on a hanging train and tries to escape.

That’s not all! While you explore The Wasteland, you can come across a sporty yellow outfit that looks strikingly similar to the costume worn by The Bride in Quentin Tarantino’s blockbuster, Kill Bill.

Have you found any other Easter eggs that link these two popular franchises? Let us know in the comments!
