Stellar Blade releasing uncensored in all countries
PS5 exclusive Stellar Blade will release uncensored everywhere.
Stellar Blade, which was previously known as Project EVE, was originally revealed in September of 2022 and had given rise to some controversy surrounding the design of the game’s female protagonist. Specifically, some deemed the design to be of a more sexual nature. Along with that, the Stellar Blade demo, which was released on March 29, featured some depictions of gore.
However, South Korean game developer SHIFT UP seems steadfast as the official Twitter account recently posted on this topic. It also noted that this includes the Japanese version.
This announcement only seemed to fuel the hype surrounding Stellar Blade, as the previously mentioned demo already did very well in terms of popularity. According to industry analysts Ampere, Stellar Blade’s demo had nearly double the amount of players at its peak compared to the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo.
Yet not everyone is happy with Stellar Blade’s release ratings. EA Japan general manager Shaun Noguchi took to the platform to criticize the Japanese ratings board in a now-deleted post for what he believes are discrepancies in the way Dead Space and Stellar Blade have been rated. In a translation by Automaton, Noguchi says:
“What’s going on CERO? The Stellar Blade’s demo was really fun and absolutely action-packed. However, CERO, you denied our Dead Space a rating because it included cross-sections of severed body parts and internal organs, but here we have both cross-sections and insides on display passed off with a CERO D rating. I find this hard to accept…”
Nonetheless, Noguchi has expressed admiration for the game saying he has “no ill will towards Stellar Blade itself.” In any case, we hope that Stellar Blade is able to deliver on the hype and provide gamers with an unfiltered and exciting experience.
Stellar Blade releases exclusively for PS5 on April 26.
