Stellar Blade’s Free Update Isn’t Quite Pleasing Those Who Want Actual Content Beyond Flashes of Skin

Stellar Blade was a massive success for Shift Up and Sony Interactive Entertainment on the PlayStation 5. The gaming community immediately fell in love with Eve and all the other characters introduced in the game and expects to see more content in the foreseeable future regardless of what it may be.

The South Korean developers at Shift Up struck gold with this new franchise and are providing more post-launch support through updates and patches. The game developers have given the gaming community a bunch of new cosmetic items, however, other players are harder to please than most.

The Gaming Community Have Mixed Opinions About the Latest Stellar Blade Summer Update

The developers at Shift Up took a massive gamble by stepping out of their comfort zone and developing a video game for the current console generation rather than sticking to their roots and developing mobile games.

It is safe to assume that Soulslike games like Elden Ring and Soulslike adjacent projects like Stellar Blade are carrying the game industry after becoming a critical success in the Japanese market.

The gaming community was captivated by the unique appearances and the game’s ambitious and futuristic nature, and the developers knew how to appeal to them by pairing it with an intense combat system reminiscent of the iconic Soulslike genre.

Suits and other cosmetic items are being added post-launch and fans expect to see more cool armor sets rather than daring outfits for Eve.

I wonder what’s coming next….

Despite the fierce competition, the game received the highest-user score on Metacritic which is an impressive feat. Fans were pleased to see the developers adding new content, however, it is no longer the kind of content they are interested in.

The developers did not shy away from the bold and daring character designs and knew it would draw the gaming community’s attention. Director Hyung-Tae Kim revealed his favorite Stellar Blade outfits and among them is the skin suit that was designed a decade ago before the game saw the light of day and fans are hoping to see more new suits soon.

The developers are doing everything they can to please the gaming community by releasing new cosmetic items. It is not easy to develop new story content and skins are far faster to release, perhaps Shift Up could improve the quality of cosmetic items they release and listen to the gaming community’s suggestions and requests.

The gaming community is challenging the developers at Shift Up to go crazy with new content beyond their wildest dreams. Players are after something never before seen and there is a small window of opportunity for Shift Up to elevate the genre through quality content.

Creativity is the lifeblood of game development and there should be no shortage of new ideas. Perhaps the developers could benefit from the suggestions of the gaming community and integrate them for future expansions and potentially a sequel.

Cosmetic items are not the best form of free post-launch content, however, the developers made them with effort. Hopefully, Shift Up will listen to the feedback and meet their expectations halfway.
