If you’re looking for a Valentine’s Day date idea, or just a nice night out, you can catch this beloved modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Taming Of The Shrew, starring Julia Stiles and the late, great Heath Ledger, at Moonlight Cinema in Kings Park on February 14. The film (also showing that night at Rendezvous Scarborough’s rooftop cinema) is part of a romantic schedule at Kings Park that also includes Notting Hill (February 11), a preview screening of Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy (February 12), How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days (February 13), The Notebook (February 15) and the Andrew Garfield/Florence Pugh new release, We Live In Time (February 16). Sometimes the only place to be on a Perth summer afternoon is in the water, so Crown Towers has launched these poolside parties, on February 9 and 23. Sun Sets is set at the multi-tiered lagoon pools, usually reserved for hotel guests, with DJs playing 3pm-7.30pm. General admission tickets are $100 with a drink on arrival, or you can splash out on a VIP day bed for four, which includes access to the private sun-deck and a bottle of Veuve Cliquot ($1500). Other ticket packages are also available. See crownperth.com.au.

This underground Mexican joint has said hola to the city, promising to bring tequila, tacos, mezcal and mischief to the lower levels of Brookfield Place. Open Wednesday to Saturday, the atmospheric bar’s food menu includes nachos, a caramelised duck taquito, lamb barbacoa tacos, plus ice-creams and icy poles from Freo’s La Paleta. The drinks list includes an extensive list of tequilas and mescal, a handful of beers and wines and plenty of cocktails (which can be made spicy, if you dare). Our eye is on a mandarin margarita with black salt. See lupes.com.au.
