Street Takeover Chrysler 300 Blasts To 150 MPH During Police Pursuit
As the crackdown continues on illegal street takeovers, some participants will do just about anything to get away with their crimes. For two men in a Chrysler 300 fleeing the scene of a takeover in East Los Angeles, that included pushing the Mopar to a wonderous 150 mph as they tried evading capture by police.
Watch a street takeover driver cry like a baby when he gets arrested.
That’s a serious risk to take, not only for the two suspects but everyone who happened to be on the road at the time. Crashing at that speed comes with tremendous forces the safety features in a car might not be able to handle.
But the pair really didn’t want to be caught. Why exactly isn’t clear considering prosecutors in Los Angeles County have historically gone soft on the street takeover crowd. There’s a reason why the problem is so bad there.
It’s possible there was an additional reason for their flight. After all, quite a few criminals like to gather at and even participate in street takeovers. If police know this, they might decide to try collaring suspects in such a setting, although that doesn’t seem horribly likely.
Whatever the reason, California Highway Patrol gave chase as the suspect driver blacked the Chrysler out, squeezed past traffic, and otherwise behaved recklessly, reports KTLA. But CHP air units were tracking the car’s movements, so the prospect of getting away wasn’t as great as the driver might have believed.
Still, he gave it the old college try, getting off the freeway in Long Beach, blasting through red lights, eventually parking all inconspicuously along a road. But police weren’t the least bit fooled. Both suspects were taken into custody, all that high-speed effort amounting to nothing.
Don’t go to street takeovers, kids. These are the types of people you’re rubbing shoulders with there.
