Super Earth Citizens in Helldivers 2 Unanimously Declare Their Most Terrifying Enemy in the System

Helldivers 2 poses grave concerns for the players as the game features loads of enemy factions. Be it the Termininds or the Automatons, you have to be very skillful and tactical while fighting them. However, they are not the biggest problem for the Super Earth Citizens in the game.

However, as per the Helldivers 2 community, the greatest challenge for the players in the game is the recently launched enemy faction, the Illuminate. The mythical third faction of the game arrived as part of the Omens of Tyranny update and they are arguably the tougher ones among the three enemy factions.

The Illuminate or the Squids are a group of psychic aliens that return from the first game. They use mind control and advanced technology to arm and players must think more strategically and deal with a variety of enemies in order to defeat them. The Illuminate combines the Automatons’ emphasis on ranged combat and the Terminids’ use of rampaging horde tactics, throwing hordes of enemies at you while also keeping you alert with strong ranged enemies.

If you were a random citizen of Super Earth, which faction would you fear the most?

In addition to being urban cities, their encampments make it more difficult to move freely than in a bug hive. These structures, however, also provide you with more shelter and breathing space so you can replenish your supplies and reload your weapons without fear of being overrun. Still, the community isn’t getting any sigh of relief.

The story doesn’t end here as the Illuminate might get even stronger. Their formidable Tripods are currently their most potent weapon, though they are now somewhat easier to handle due to the recent revelation that their joints are a weak point. Because of this, the more seasoned Helldivers are becoming a little too big for their boots, but some people think the worst is still to come from the Illuminate.

A dedicated player named MelodicCriticism2705 made a strong case on Reddit for the delaying of even more powerful Illuminate weapons and claiming that “worse and more challenging” enemies are on the horizon.

“Illuminate’s Tripods are so easy to kill. They are not threatening” Tripods are currently encountered at level 3 difficulty, the same as Chargers and Hulks. That means they weren’t even supposed to be hard to kill, and squid’s actual elite is yet to arrive. Sweet Liberty.

The user notes in the post that the Illuminate’s tripods are comparable to the Terminid’s chargers or the Automaton’s Hulk in that they can be encountered in Level 3 Difficulty missions. Evidently, stronger adversaries only show up in the more challenging missions, indicating that the Illuminate hasn’t fully unveiled its toolkit.

Enemy types in the Illuminate Faction

There are a total of four types of enemies in this specific faction:

  • Voteless: There are the people that the Illuminate has manipulated and altered. These enemies are hordes of zombies that try to claw you as they charge at you. Since they are weak on their own, they are not too difficult to handle, but it’s important to keep their numbers spread out to avoid being overwhelmed.
  • Overseers: These are larger, multi-variation humanoid aliens. Others who harass you from the air have jetpacks and blaster rifles, while others have spears and shields. Mid-tier enemies, the Overseers pose a greater threat than the Voteless, but they frequently show up in groups and can overwhelm you if not dealt with right away.
  • Harvesters: The Illuminate’s equivalent of the Helldivers 2 Bile Titans, these enormous armored tripods are the faction’s deadliest threat and stomp around the battlefield as heavy-tier foes. They have a strong laser that shoots from their eye, which also serves as a weak spot, and regenerating bubble shields that must be worn down in order to harm them. On the plus side, they move slowly and are easily avoided by hiding behind buildings as long as you’re not facing them in a public place.
  • Watchers: They are common outside Illuminate bases, summon dropships when they see players, and use a spotlight to blind you before trying to shock you with electricity. These floating drones appear to serve as scouts. Although they aren’t particularly dangerous by themselves, they are warning signs of something really horrible to come, much like an Automaton releasing a flare or a Terminid spewing orange smoke. Once more, they should be cured with a few shots to the central eye.
