Super Meat Boy now free on PC until December 25

A classic 2010 indie game originating from the Xbox 360 is up for grabs as the holidays are around the corner. There is a catch though (and not just in terms of availability), so don’t head over to your PCs so fast. For anyone looking for some early 2010s nostalgia and another game to pick up during the holidays, you are more than covered with the 2010 indie game Super Meat Boy, developed by the devs calling themselves Team Meat.

As reported by ComicBook, Super Meat Boy is free for PC gamers to grab until Christmas Day. Here’s the catch – the free deal is only available on the Epic Games Store rather than on another popular digital storefront such as Steam, and PC gamers will need an Amazon Prime subscription. Thus, Super Meat Boy on the Epic Games Store can be unlocked here with the code provided by Prime Gaming. If you try to pick up the game without a Prime subscription or purchase on Steam, the game will cost you $14.99. SMB’s page on the EGS has the following description:

Super Meat Boy is a tough as nails platformer where you play as a boy without skin who needs to save his girlfriend made of bandages from an evil fetus in a jar wearing a top hat and a monocle.

After SMB’s original release on the Xbox 360, it was ported to other platforms including the PS4, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch. A sequel released in 2020 called Super Meat Boy Forever did not receive the same success though. But on the more positive side, SMB was featured in the 2012 documentary Indie Games: The Movie (via Polygon).
