Suspect identified in shooting, stabbing at Las Vegas valley casino
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man faces several charges after a stabbing led to a shooting at a west Las Vegas valley casino, the 8 News Now Investigators have learned.
Around 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 3, Las Vegas Metropolitan police responded to Red Rock Resort and Casino in the 11000 block of Charleston Boulevard after a report that two individuals had been stabbed and one had been shot, police said.
According to 8 News Now Investigators sources, the suspect stabbed two individuals inside the casino, prompting a security guard to shoot him.
All three people were taken to a nearby hospital, with two of them in critical condition, police said.
According to records obtained by the 8 News Now Investigators, the suspect, Shayne Sussman, 25, was arrested and faces three counts of attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon or tear gas, four counts of battery with the use of a deadly weapon, and one count of battery with the use of a deadly weapon, resulting in substantial bodily harm.
A memo sent to Red Rock team members, obtained by 8newsnow.com, said the team was “shaken up” by the violence.
“We are grateful for the swift and decisive actions of our security team, which prevented a terrible incident from being much worse,” the memo went on to say. “The safety and security of our team members and guests is and will always be our highest priority. Our thoughts and prayers are with our affected team members—please join us in wishing them a quick and complete recovery.”
