Switch 2 Rumor Debunks Any Possibility of Nintendo Getting GTA 6

Switch 2 has quickly become one of the most anticipated consoles in recent years, generating huge buzz among gamers and tech enthusiasts alike. With leaks suggesting a huge leap in performance, fans’ expectations have soared, particularly regarding the AAA titles from third-party publishers.

Among the most anticipated games is Grand Theft Auto 6, Rockstar’s next big project. Given the powerful performance expected from the upcoming handheld console, many fans wondered if it could handle a title as massive as GTA 6. However, a recent rumor seems to have debunked that possibility, shattering gamers’ hopes.

While the Switch 2 details still remain shrouded in mystery, the recent teaser has offered fans a small glimpse into what they should expect from the device. A brief preview showed the design of the device and gave us a hint at a new Mario Kart title, sparking speculation about the console’s potential games.

More official details about the device will be released on April 2nd. However, leaks have shown the full picture of what to expect from the device. While these are still leaks and should be taken with a grain of salt, some of them have proven to be accurate.

Recently, another rumor from content creator Pedro Henrique (PH Brazil) has added to the growing pool of leaks. According to him, insider sources have indicated that the console’s hardware is powerful enough to support a wide array of ambitious third-party AAA titles.

He further added that thanks to the new hardware, many studios are looking to release their AAA titles on the hybrid console. However, there’s also a big disappointment. He has also pointed out that very demanding titles, like GTA 6, might be too much for the console, due to its CPU-heavy nature.

This suggests that while the Switch 2 will support many blockbuster games, it may not be able to handle generational titles like GTA 6 and Elder Scrolls 6 as they will demand more hardware than what is present in the hybrid console.

Bridging the gap, but not quite there yet

The rumor suggesting that many bug studios/publishers are showing interest in the handheld’s hardware is a very big deal. Previously, the same studios paid attention to the handheld, but only offered remasters or ports of older games on the device.

This revelation that modern AAA games are also being considered on the device goes to show the generational leap Switch 2 is taking in terms of hardware. However, as the rumor suggests, there are still some limitations.

AAA titles like GTA 6 are built to push the limits of modern home consoles and require high-end processing power to manage the extensive world-building, AI, and complex physics systems.

While the Switch 2’s performance seems like going to be impressive, it may not be able to handle the demands of these kinds of titles, at least not without significant compromises.

That said, it’s important to remember that these are still rumors and leaks. Until Nintendo officially reveals the specs and capabilities, nothing is set in stone.

In the end, as much as fans were expecting to see the ultimate combination of the most anticipated title and console of recent times, it’s still a distant dream for now.
