The Absurd PS5 Pro Pricing Won’t Make Any Sense if it Fails to Enhance 5 Games That Deserve Better

The PS5 Pro promises to deliver a stronger GPU, faster memory speeds, ray tracing, and AI upscaling for better visual fidelity, along with zero sacrifices on the performance front.

However, no one can ignore that eye-watering $699.99 price tag, which makes it one of the heftiest investments in gaming. That being said, if Sony wants you to go for it, they might as well ensure that these games take full and proper advantage of the new hardware.

5. Lies of P

Lies of P is already a visually impressive and challenging experience, arguably being the single best Soulslike in existence. However, its current performance mode on the PS5 often struggles to maintain 60FPS, dipping to 1080p to stabilize gameplay.

On the PS5 Pro, a quality-focused 4K resolution and a stable 60FPS experience could make this game feel a lot more visually stable and bring out much of its opulent qualities, thereby allowing players to fully appreciate the tale that twists Carlo Collodi’s classic fairy tale on its head.

The Pro’s upgraded GPU could also help reduce these dips, making Lies of P one of the standout titles on the upgraded console.

4. Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 is considered one of Rockstar’s masterpieces, but its current console versions lacks 60FPS support.

The PS5 Pro could change that, providing smoother performance and increased graphical, at least until GTA VI drops and hopefully gives us a test of this console’s might.

With the enhanced GPU, we could see more detailed environments, richer foliage, and improved character models, further breathing life into an already immersive world.

Fans of the game on the current generation have long been waiting for some kind of console upgrade, and the PS5 Pro could finally give the Red Dead community the version it deserves.

3. Cyberpunk 2077

Despite its rocky launch, Cyberpunk 2077, especially after its 2.0 upgrade, has transformed into one of the most visually stunning games of all time.

Unfortunately, the existing consoles on the market fail to tap into the game’s potential, something that especially hurts when you take the PC-only path-tracing feature into account.

The PS5 Pro’s improved ray-tracing capabilities and stronger hardware could unlock a higher level of detail and polish with the help of PSSR, making Night City look sharper and more realistic than ever before on the consoles.

If CD Projekt RED cooperated, the console’s buyers could finally experience Cyberpunk with better performance and jaw-dropping visuals that actually flex the Pro Model’s muscles.

2. Phantom Blade Zero

Phantom Blade Zero promises to be one of the most innovative action RPGs of the generation, blending Soulsborne elements with high-speed combat.

However, from what we’ve seen so far, the game is still inconsistent in the frame-rate department, with the upscaling resolution seemingly dropping to 720p.

Now, the game is still in development, and there’s a big chance that performance will improve over time, but with UE5’s track record on the base PS5, we can’t get anyone’s hopes up either.

But with the PS5 Pro’s hardware boost, we could potentially have the definitive way to experience the game, providing consistently upscaled 4K resolution and fluid gameplay. This enhancement would ensure that Phantom Blade Zero lives up to its potential on its release.

1. Elden Ring

Elden Ring, widely regarded as one of the greatest games ever made, still struggles to hit its full visual potential on PS5, especially after its particularly difficult expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree.

The problem with this game is that the performance mode sacrifices too much quality for frame rates, especially in the shadows quality department. On the other hand, the excessively diffused image-producing ray tracing mode at 30FPS leaves much to be desired.

On the PS5 Pro, Sony has a chance to take on these visual issues, delivering a more flawless 60FPS performance without compromising on graphical fidelity.

With enhanced shadows, better textures, and a more stable frame rate, Elden Ring could finally be experienced in all its glory on the Pro. If we can’t get Bloodborne on the Pro, the least Sony could do is fix FromSoftware’s current masterpiece.

At the end of the day, though, for some, the base PS5 still offers a fantastic gaming experience without the need for a costly mid-gen upgrade. On the other end, others argue that the Pro only marginally improves upon the current system, and the platform simply doesn’t have enough first-party games that may benefit from the upgrade.

All this does is simply leave the question the question of whether it truly is worth it up for debate and who Sony is even making this console for.
