The Day Before dev is back with a new project

Remember the failure — and probable scam — that was The Day Before from last year? Well, now the developer, Fntastic, is back with its own new Kickstarter.

Fntastic’s website is now live with a new look and a couple of discussions about the studio’s next moves, including being more open about its projects and acting more professional, ditching the “volunteer” model that got it in hot water when discovered. This is all detailed in a PDF.

A new, simpler project, Escape Factory, was also announced with a YouTube trailer on the channel that was scrubbed once following the failure of The Day Before.

Now, it’s entirely up to you how much you believe of this considering the developer in question, but it will be a harder sell for many to let any sort of scammy behavior to go under the radar considering it’s taking money from backers on Kickstarter.

For a brief reminder of The Day Before, it was Fntastic’s big game rife with controversy ranging from the studio’s behavior, trademark issues, a number of delays, and the final product, which it sold on Steam, was horribly buggy and unoptimized, leading to a steep player drop. The Day Before lasted a month before shutting down, with the studio itself closing its doors and the CEO nuking himself from Twitter.

More came forward about the game, including the poor leadership and direction of the project leading to many scrapped ideas and versions, including the fact that the team didn’t get the memo that it was supposed to be an MMO.
