“The door is not closed yet” on Napoleon Dynamite sequel

A Nepoleon Dynamite sequel isn’t out of the question apparently. It sounds like it could take place 20 years after the flick’s Idaho setting, this time during a high school reunion.

Efren Ramirez, who played Pedro Sánchez beside Jon Heder’s namesake character, Napoleon, revealed to Comicbook that “the door is not closed yet.” Last we heard from the cultural icons was during a 2012 six-episode animated comedy that flew largely under the radar likely due to the genre being saturated with comedies like it on its home channel of Fox.

“When you have a really good story, whether you make a prequel or a sequel, you can really explore the depths of these characters of where they would be, or where they came from, or what led them to be where they’re at.”

It’s not just Ramirez who would love to return to the Idaho-based IP. Heder himself noted that he would “love to do Napoleon stuff” just last year. Fuel was added to the fire, too, as Fox Searchlight Pictures is now under the nostalgia-loving Disney, which adores cashing in on older IPs.
