The First Descendant’s Baffling Decision at the Beginning of the Game Will Come Back to Haunt Everyone in a Few Months Time
Nexon’s The First Descendant has managed to win the hearts of more than a few players since its launch. The title’s captivating premise, unique characters, and addictive gameplay loop have ensured that it deftly sidesteps the usual trappings of the MMORPG genre while remaining an enjoyable experience for its players.
That is not to say that the game could do with a few quality-of-life improvements, which its players have been quite vocal about. Nexon would want to pay attention to one particular detail that is sure to be a pain point for a lot of its players as more content comes out for the game over time.
The First Descendant’s Niggles Threaten Its Success
Despite The First Descendant’s interesting setting that pits the titular Descendants against the Vulgus, a vicious alien race, players have found issues with the game’s mechanics that threaten to derail the immersive gameplay loop that Nexon has crafted.
Among these complaints is the fact that a player’s equipment slots are directly linked to the number of inventory slots they can use with the storage box back at their headquarters in Albion, the game’s central hub. This necessitates the need for constant inventory management that pulls them out of the action and dismantling of items that they could perhaps use later down the line.
How Much Storage Is Too Much?
Nexon would want to pay attention to such details in order to keep players interested in playing The First Descendant, and could perhaps keep inventory management high on its list of priorities when it considers issues to fix in upcoming updates.
The Korean studio is definitely going to need a fix on the storage box with players already complaining about it as they collect more loot from the game’s splendidly rendered world. The Reddit post below is a perfect showcase of their frustration.
The Storage Box in Albion should have a capacity of 1000 or more. We are at the beginning of the game, the first season has not yet started, and many characters, additions, and weapons are coming. This is the worst Storage Box in the world of games.

Having limited storage may have been a calculated move on Nexon’s part considering that it did not want an excessive grind to farm items as a part of its gameplay loop.
But it also limits what players can do with weapons they may want to use at a later time, with many choosing to dismantle items they are not interested in.

Nexon could also think about the implementation of gold items while it remedies inventory management, as that’s another complaint that is likely to affect its future roadmap of content for the game.

While most players enjoying The First Descendant have not let these issues get in the way of having fun in the game, they are likely to affect the game’s overall quality, as Nexon continues to add new content to it.
The studio would do well to address these problems sooner rather than later.
We would love to hear what you think Nexon can do to fix the situation. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
