The First Descendant’s Community’s Complaints Have Won as Nexon Announce Huge Drop Rate Change-Up
Nexon’s The First Descendant has gotten a lot of attention since its release. It had an initially strong player base that hit 265,000 concurrent players on Steam. But with time the game has faced challenges typical of the genre, particularly concerning drop rates and grinding.
Players have expressed significant dissatisfaction with the game’s grind-heavy nature, leading Nexon to announce a significant overhaul to the drop rate system. With the release of update 1.0.5, Nexon acknowledged player concerns and is going to implement a guaranteed “pity” system.
The Latest The First Descendant Patch Will Make You Smile
Looter shooters like The First Descendant thrive on the excitement of obtaining rare items. However, players have found themselves spending hours repeating the same activities with little to show for their efforts.
Minseok Joo, the game’s director, acknowledged the community’s feedback and the need for a better farming structure. He stated that the goal is to balance the various missions and chance-dependent materials in the game’s reward systems. This change comes in the wake of numerous player complaints about spending excessive time without receiving the promised rewards.
To address this, we’re planning to introduce a new system where you can more easily get the item you want after repeating the activity a certain number of times.
The First Descendant’s latest update, version 1.0.5, introduces several new features and conted. And among the most anticipated changes is the overhauled drop rate improvement system. Described as a “guaranteed drops” system, this new mechanism increases players’ chances of obtaining desired items after repeated attempts at the same activity.

Nexon Has a Long Way To Go With Future The First Descendant Updates
Players have expressed relief at the promised drop rate improvements. Many have previously aired their grievances on social media, with some reporting spending hours on missions without receiving the rare drops they needed. The new system is expected to alleviate these issues by ensuring that the grind is rewarded more consistently.
Let’s talk about those drop rates.

The controversy surrounding the game’s drop rates isn’t new for Nexon. Earlier this year, the company was fined nearly $9 million for altering the probabilities of premium loot boxes in other games. This history has understandably made players wary.
The First Descendant‘s journey has had highs and lows since its release. The game’s impressive launch numbers and early popularity are evidence of its potential within the looter-shooter genre. But to keep players happy, they need to address issues and continuously listen to players.
Nexon’s response to community feedback, particularly regarding drop rates, is a positive step towards achieving this goal. But will they keep this pace going forward and consider player feedback more and more? Nothing is for certain.
