According to a leaked PowerPoint pitch for the game, Spider-Man: The Great Web could have a multiverse variant of very popular MCU villains like Rhino, Green Goblin, Dock Ock, and many more. You could even create your own version of Spider-Man.
The live-service game world has been through a rough patch lately, with very ominous failures like Marvel’s Avengers and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League that are making some studios think really well about new possible games. But one particular cancelled project has fans going through mourning: Spider-Man: The Great Web. It could be a multiplayer game within the Spider-verse of the latest Spider-Man titles. According to the complete PowerPoint pitch, which has more than 15 minutes with all the content that this game would have, Spider-Man: The Great Web would have different versions of popular MCU villains like Rhino, Doc Ock, Vulture, and many more in every new universe that you visit for the mission of the game.
Madame Web would have been the center of the story, connecting you to other worlds to help the other Spider-Man versions. Very similar to the animated films from Christopher Miller and Phil Lord.
Insomniac Games has a very good reputation after the latest titles that this studio has developed. With three very amazing Spider-Man games and a Wolverine title that could be launched soon, this studio is one of the favorites of PlayStation fans. Spider-Man: The Great Web could really make a difference between live-service games; unfortunately, the cancellation of the project seems very final, but players are making petitions to revive the game.
