The Most Underrated Playstation Game of All Time- Capcom Game That Only Sold 60,000 Copies Gets the Respect It Deserves Thanks to Astro Bot Director Nicolas Doucet
Countless PlayStation exclusives have come and go in the previous generations and one creative director reflects on other timeless classics amidst the launch of his upcoming project. Nicolas Doucet is leading the charge with Team Asobi’s latest project and carved the time to talk about God Hand and how it was an underrated success while doing his rounds to promote the project.
Doucet dug deep and remembered a core memory from his youth. Perhaps the game will be honored in a future project.
Director Nicolas Doucet Feels God Hand Was an Underrated PlayStation Classic
The gaming community is awaiting the arrival of Astro Bot on the PS5, and early previews have shown great promise of a fun platformer title that manages to honor its roots and other great gaming franchises. Some players were fortunate to play the game early and claim that the game would feature countless cameos; unfortunately, Doucet could not find the perfect place to embed a God Hand reference in secret.
While taking part in an interview under rapid fire, Doucet was asked which game he thinks is highly underrated, and without missing a beat, he said God Hand. The fighting game was released many years ago and not many people talk about it and its influence on other modern fighting games.

Doucet is giddy with excitement for the launch of his upcoming game and realizes it is the perfect opportunity to talk about the legacy of gaming. Honoring games that are not necessarily tethered to the Sony brand and could go beyond while celebrating the benefits of these interactive projects, some fans were amused to see other iconic gaming characters in the game and more could be tucked away for safekeeping and preventing leaks.
Gaming has come far in the past few years and the family-friendly nature of Astro Bot made people remember that great games can exist in all genres. Trusted gaming insiders like Jeff Grubb are singing the praises of the upcoming game and are confident the game has a strong chance of being nominated for Game of the Year.
Astro Bot Is Taking the Gaming Community by Storm
It is rare to see game directors talk about other projects that are not directly related to theirs. It speaks volumes about Doucet’s knowledge and passion for earlier video games and how it shaped his career as a developer.
God Hand only managed to sell 60,000 copies which is still a decent amount but nowhere near the ideal amount of sales for today’s time. Perhaps Capcom can work on a remaster or a remake, use nostalgia as the driving force, and put the franchise back on the map.
Doucet failed to find a place to reference the game in Astro Bot, but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t succeed in his next attempt. The success of Astro Bot could encourage Sony to go for another installment down the line and it could feature more easter eggs.
Team Asobi spent the last three years working on this project with a 60-man team of developers and it is worth the wait. Doucet wanted this entry to stand out and prove this could be a long-running gaming franchise that could stand alongside other great PlayStation titles.
