The Siege of Dawn Debate Rages On Over the Only Properly Working Part of the Game

Recently, a Reddit user posted screenshots of Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, claiming it to be one of the best-looking games around. The post quickly gained traction, but the reactions were far from unanimous.

Most of the users didn’t agree with the OP, heavily disagreeing with its claims of graphical fidelity. Although, a few fans did highlight a few decent things about the game.

Another suggested that the graphics were average at best, sarcastically implying that the person who posted the screenshots might be experiencing fatigue or vision problems.

A few users compared Flintlock to other games, with one stating that they finished it and immediately started playing Banishers, which they found to be much better and visually stunning. Banishers: Ghost of New Eden is another game with a similar visual style and setting, so the comparisons make sense.

Others acknowledged that while Flintlock might look fantastic for a Unity game, it certainly wasn’t among the best-looking games available. Some users appreciated the fun gameplay but admitted that the graphics felt outdated, especially when it came to character faces.

One recurring theme in the fan reception is the comparison to other games in the genre. The game is Soulslike-inspired, along with some God of War thrown it. Players who had experience with similar titles often found Flintlock lacking in certain areas, especially the combat

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, developed by A44 and published by Kepler Interactive, is an action RPG set in a dark, gritty fantasy world. The game was highly anticipated for its promising gameplay mechanics and intriguing storyline. However, upon release, it faced several criticisms

It currently has an average of 71/100 on Metacritic, with negative user reviews averaging a score of 4.0/10. Most negative user reviews call the game soulless and bland, with little uniqueness or innovation.

Many players reported technical issues, including bugs and glitches that hampered the gaming experience. Frame rate drops and crashes were common, frustrating those who were eager to enjoy the game. Despite these shortcomings, some players still found enjoyment in the gameplay, highlighting the game’s combat system and exploration elements as its strong points.

Critics, too, had mixed feelings about Flintlock. Some praised its ambitious scope and engaging narrative, while others couldn’t overlook the technical flaws. The game’s graphics were a particular point of contention. While some appreciated the artistic direction and atmosphere, others found the visuals to be subpar compared to modern standards. The character models and animations were frequently cited as being outdated as well.
