The Starfield Modders Are up in Arms Understandably as Bethesda Continues to Ignore Simple Solution to Massive Issue

Starfield‘s success (or the lack thereof) can sometimes feel like a mystery in itself. Is the game popular because of Bethesda’s hard work, or do we credit the creative modders in the community?

On that note, there’s a big problem at the moment that’s keeping players away from the perks of Starfield’s vibrant modding scene. This may have to do a little with how the game’s achievements work.

The Lack of Achievements Is Keeping Players Away From Mods

In the game’s Reddit community recently, user Reciter5613 shared a screenshot that’s quickly becoming a matter of concern. These are pictures of Starfield mods which may otherwise be great additions to the game, but right now, aren’t “achievement-friendly.”

With more than a thousand upvotes, fellow Starfield players have shared this sentiment in the comments. Some are offering solutions, while others are simply wishing that Bethesda fixes this soon.

Bethesda, seriously, if the creations aren’t achievement friendly, you should not charge for it!

A viable solution comes from user Cyberdaka, who suggests that the game could benefit from having a separate section for mods that’s achievement-friendly.

This will ideally allow players to install mods without having to worry about the game disabling achievements. Can you imagine playing the game, working hard on certain objectives only to realize that they amount to nothing in context of achievements?

On the other hand, user cleverlikem3 recommends checking out Nexus mods that can be highly efficient in a situation like this, giving players more accessibility and perhaps even a larger pool of mods to choose from.

A Promising DLC and Mods Are Starfield’s Last Hope

With mostly “Mixed” reviews on Steam and an average daily count of less than 10,000 players, Starfield isn’t the most obvious choice for gamers right now. Truth be told, some of the best mods in the game are keeping it interesting at the moment.

The arrival of Shattered Space will likely bring in many new players. The DLC will tell new stories, introduce fresh elements to the game, and perhaps even give the game a quality-of-life revamp.

However, keeping the long-term in mind, mods are essentially the most creative way both players and developers can keep the game exciting. Something like achievements are also an important aspect of a player’s journey.

In the past, users have pointed out how some mods should keep achievements active, and not something locked out when playing the game with the mod installed.

Whether the developers choose to implement this is something up to fate and time. Right now, the only indication of the studio making improvements to the game comes in the form of a DLC. Additionally, fixing the achievement-related problems will make many players happy.
