There is One War that’s Unlikely to Ever Fully Feature in a Call of Duty Game, and It’s Not Surprising

The Call of Duty franchise has long been renowned for its fast-paced gameplay and detailed depiction of various historical and fictional conflicts. We have witnessed World War II to futuristic battles, with the series covering a wide array of wars, spawning many unforgettable characters and moments.

However, one conflict has been noticeably absent from many abysmal stories already covered in the franchises. The Vietnam War is a complex political question from history books for it to be put into a video game, and it is not surprising it has never been tackled in such a famous franchise.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Has a Chance to Do Right Vietnam War Setting

Call of Duty: Black Ops series, developed by Treyarch, is known for bringing to life brutal stories combined with high-octane-infused action.

Throughout the franchise, we have witnessed a number of missions that drained players emotionally to the bones.

Treyarch has set a high standard in depicting these complex plots with a dose of reality that has made the franchise what it is today. Given their track record, Treyarch is well-equipped to take on the challenges of the Vietnam War.

We all remember some missions and protagonists’ deaths from earlier Black Ops games that have taken an emotional toll. This will largely translate into a possible Vietnam game as many are taken hostage and need to break out.

Some will fall into the hands of the guerrilla, and some will find a way home, which clearly compares to other titles in the franchise.

The possibility of a full-fledged Vietnam game in the Call of Duty series has fans ranting on and on.

One fan of the war-themed video games has asked the question and many fans have chimed in to express skepticism and nothing much more.

One player, in particular, said that such a setting might be too repetitive due to the Vietnam jungles and that the game won’t have more than 10 missions, with the complex questions left at bay.

However, another fan remarked that eventually, developers will need to revisit historical settings like Vietnam as they exhaust other ideas.

But this sentiment doesn’t ring the right bells but again it will be something to resort to when they have nothing left to cover as players think that the political conflict is too complex.

Nevertheless, until a proper game set in Vietnam happens, fans of the war-themed games have something to look forward to. The latest installment in the series is less than three months away from its Xbox Game Pass day one launch

While this one brings the Gulf War to the screens, the hope for another complex political conflict won’t die as the franchise exists.

What are your thoughts? Is the Activision franchise a good series for a Vietnam game? Let us know in the comments below.
