They’re Immune to One Weapon Type

The new Helldivers 2 update has been a glorious return to the game’s peak. But if you think it’s made the game easier than you like, then worry not because Arrowhead might be cooking something for that too. A leak recently revealed an upcoming enemy sub-faction known as the Iron Fleet Automatons.

The leaked screenshots show the chrome and shiny terminator-like designs of the new enemies. This sleek look may not be just for show as it could mean that these enemies could be immune or highly resistant to laser and heat-based weapons due to their mirror-like surface.

Helldivers 2‘s Comeback Could Go To Even Further Heights With Upcoming Updates

The Iron Fleet Automatons were first revealed in a post on Reddit by a user named IronS1ghts. These chrome automatons are said to be a tougher, more resilient sub-faction compared to the existing Automatons in Helldivers 2. The leak noted that they had briefly appeared in-game due to a bug.

In addition to the rumors of increased laser resistance, players have also speculated that these chrome automatons could have other unique abilities. Some have suggested that their mirror-like finish might not only make them resistant to certain types of damage but also potentially reflect or absorb energy from weapons.

As with any leak, it’s important to take these rumors with a grain of salt until official confirmation is provided. These aren’t the only leaks regarding the game. There are other reported enemy leaks like the Illuminate too. Only time will tell which of them make it to the game.

Creative Director Johan Pilestedt recently acknowledged the players’ concerns about the game being too easy after the update, promising that the developers would look into adding a harder difficulty setting. If the Iron Fleet Automatons are as tough as they seem, then players should be in for a treat.

Helldivers 2 has been one of the more explosive titles this year. It launched to massive success then stumbled a bit as developer Arrowhead Game Studios made some balancing decisions that didn’t quite meet player expectations. After more feedback, the studio has found its footing again though.

The latest patch has already made the right changes, rebalancing weapons and addressing many of the community’s concerns. This update has been well-received, with players noting that it has made the game more enjoyable and balanced.

Looking ahead, the game’s future may depend on how well Arrowhead integrates these new enemies. The devs have made the wrong balancing changes before and if it happens again, they might push more players away rather than bring them back.

But if implemented carefully, these enemies could provide the challenge that hardcore players are asking for. With the favor of players back on their side, the devs must choose what comes next carefully.
