It’s been just two weeks since the debut of the latest Warhammer game, and the team at Saber Interactive already has ideas in place for a potential Space Marine 3. What’s even better is that Saber has recognized the formula to carry forward the franchise to the next level.

Space Marine 3 Will be the Ultimate Warhammer Game

In an interview with IGN, Tim Willits, Chief Creative Officer at Saber Interactive, opened up about the success of Space Marine 2. He revealed that the studio is already thinking of ways to follow up the phenomenal hit. Willits mentioned that the game’s director, Dmitriy Grigorenko, has suggested ideas that could either be a sequel or DLC.

Willits talks about the success of games and how they can impact developers’ mindset and work quality. Any smash-hit game would increase the passion and responsibility on the shoulders of developers but might lead to increased stress due to pressure to maintain high standards.

While this may cause paranoia about perfection, it sets a driving force to deliver even better games in the future. Willits believes the success and pressure of maintaining Space Marine 2 will allow Saber Interactive to craft even better games in the future.

So I do believe that through the success lens that we have, we will just make far better products in the future.

Willits recognizes the importance of bringing new content additions in the forms of DLC packs and other follow-ups, suggesting that giving players new ways to experience what’s already there can go a long way to boost the title’s longevity.

He also says that dropping a trailer for the upcoming DLC can lead to huge spikes in sales, and making sure that Space Marine 2 benefits from all those boosts in the future is the team’s current goal.
