Twitch CEO Addresses “Confusion” About Ad Revenue as JP Morgan and AT&T Become the Initiators of Adpocalypse
Twitch CEO addresses the rising concerns some of the creators are having over unclear policies regarding ad revenue and the sudden shift in the market with some of the companies removing their ads from the platform altogether. Twitch seems to be going through an Adpocalypse at the moment, initiated by the likes of JP Morgan and AT&T.
Creators have long felt that the platform prioritizes advertisers over anyone else since it is the most important source of revenue generation for the platform. Twitch CEO seeks to clarify some of the misconceptions creators might have regarding the platform’s policies.
Twitch CEO Breaks Silence Over The Current Adpocalype
AT&T and JP Morgan have initiated an Adpocalypse on Twitch, accusing the platform of promoting anti-semitic content. A lot of other companies seem to be joining these two giants. These two are driving this wave of ad disruptions to force Twitch to enforce stricter guidelines.
Twitch as a streaming platform heavily relies on advertisements for revenue generation. However, viewers seem to hate this approach as it disrupts the experience of enjoying streams. Of course, no one likes frequent and intrusive ads, and even some streamers have had conflicts among themselves about it.
Clarifying the same Twitch CEO Dan Clancy talked about the issue of Twitch streamers seeing a reduction in their Twitch ad revenue. He said:
One thing that happened was that other streamers would look at their dashboard and they didn’t understand that their dashboard for ads is delayed two days because they didn’t usually look at their dashboard, so they’s look at their dashboard and then they would make some statements as i didn’t get any ads for the last two days and that’s cause you weren’t looking at the dashboard
Clancy tried to explain why some of the creators might think that they are not receiving any ads, and it makes sense on the surface, but that still does not take away from the fact that companies are pulling their hands out of the platform for good.
Twitch Needs To Come With Another Plan To Generate Revenue
Twitch needs to look at other options for revenue generation while there is still time. It is not too late to start thinking about it and finding ways to implement it if it wants to persist.
Otherwise, it will forever be under the mercy of big corporations like AT&T and JP Morgan with the power to drive the entire revenue out of the platform rapidly. If Clancy wants to prevent such a catastrophe, then he needs to act fast.
Twitch is one of the most celebrated platforms for viewing gaming-related content with a healthy community of viewers and creators, with some exceptions, of course. What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments below.
